These residential gardens provide a historic Chicago neighborhood with critical stepping stones for pollinators.

The ecological planting design approach for this series of residential gardens caters to insect pollinators such as the Duskywing, Monarch Butterfly, and Hummingbird Hawk Moth. Each plant community will provide nectar and pollen resources across the growing season, from April to October, and will be drought tolerant once established. Each mix is modeled after naturally-occurring woodland, savannah, or prairie conditions, and then applied to the appropriate microclimate on the site. The site contains over 600 new spring ephemerals, native grasses, and native forbs.
