Hinterlands Urbanism and Landscape, LLC is a design research office founded in 2014 by Conor O’Shea in Chicago, IL. Located at the intersection of urbanism, landscape, and ecology, the work engages 21st-century urban processes and promotes more ecologically robust and socially conscious urban futures. Hinterlands Urbanism and Landscape is influenced by its relationship to the academic research, publishing, and teaching of its employees, contractors, and collaborators. It has been featured in Architectural Record, Atlantic CityLab, Landscape Architecture Magazine, MAS Context JournalWIRED, and The Chicago Tribune.

Conor O'Shea, Founder

Conor O'Shea is a landscape designer and urbanist based in Chicago, IL and Urbana, IL. He directs the Landscape Strategies Laboratory at the University of Illinois, where he is Assistant Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture
